Simply put, electric muscle stimulation trains your muscles in a way that traditional workouts alone can't. It’s a "best kept secret" that many elite athletes and fitness enthusiasts use to enhance their workouts and training programs. Also known as neuromuscular electric stimulation, muscle stim or e-stim, electric muscle stimulation (EMS) is delivered through a small device that sends electronic pulses to your nerve fibers in order to create involuntary muscle contractions.

Our in house personal trainer (Mike) became the guinea pig for this experiment and we proposed that he would use a range of our EMS devices after workouts and physical exercise for at least 20 minutes at a time. It was important that he recorded his results 12 hours after he had used the device. We tested 3 of our current products and here are the results! Each device was tested for a week at a time.

The Gym Pad

After the first day of using the device, Mike reported he did not see any significant changes in recovery or after effects of the device. On day 3, Mike had just trained his tricep muscles and used the arm device later that night on high intensity settings. He reported that the next day usually his tricep muscles would be fairly stiff but said that his triceps seemed to have recovered much faster. This trend continued and stated that after an intense abs session, he used the gym pad and the next day it felt as if he had recovered fully! Mike stated that he was very impressed with recovery benefits associated with the gym pad but said he saw no real benefits in terms of muscle growth.

The Abs Builder

Mike used the abs builder for the first time after a heavy squat session and first noticed that this device was more powerful than the gym pad. He found his most comfortable intensity setting and claimed he was much happier with this abs device. He even reported that he felt that not only was his recovery time similar to that of the gym pad but also he felt he noticed a difference in his abs muscles after using the abs builder. He reported that with continued use of this device whilst training, it would be great to help build your abdominal muscles.

The Fitpad

Mike tested the Fitpad and one of the first things he said to us was that the quality of the device felt a step above the gym pad and slightly better than the abs builder. We were intrigued to see how the Fitpad stood up against our other less expensive ems machines. Mike made it clear to us that the intensity of the Fitpad surpassed both of the other devices and the muscle contractions received by the Fitpad were strong and felt like a real workout in itself. He also stated that he saw noticeable results after just a week and was definitely the best out of the ones he’d tried.
